Speaker Series #12 Francis McKee on 12 March: “Lost time is not found again”
5 Mar 2015 - 14:00
On Thursday curator and director of the Centre for Contemporary Arts (Glasgow), Francis McKee, will be speaking at the CCA. Francis McKee is a research fellow at The Glasgow School of Art. His research interests include the exploration of open source theory as a potential economic model within the arts, the role of the archive in contemporary art, and modes of curatorial practice.
This open talk, the 12th edition of the CCA’s Speaker Series, will focus on the retrieval and organisation of the archives of two arts centres in Glasgow – the Third Eye Centre and the Centre for Contemporary Arts (1975-the present). Within the context of a city emerging as a recognised hub for contemporary art, the need to have a memory of past activities only gradually became apparent. The archival process, however, raised a host of questions that reflect the role of the archive and memory in contemporary curatorial and artistic practice.
The talk will be held on Thursday the 12th of March at 11.30am in the Anatomy Lecture Theatre, Level 3, Old Medical School, Michaelis School of Fine Art.
For more details on McKee and the talk itself, see the poster here.
McKee will be speaking at various locations around the country from the 5th to the 15th of March. View the schedule of his talks here.
